Tim's Account:

Ursula's  birthday seemed like a good time to finally ask the question officially. We started the day with a trip to the Los Angeles Zoo. After two hours there we headed to Santa Monica and began a drive down the coast, towards our final destination of Santa Barbara. We spent the night at the Santa Barbara Inn which is located directly across from the beach. Our room had a full ocean view and it was magnificent. We proceeded to dinner at a restaurant on the beach, which we had visited on a prior trip. After dinner we went for a sunset walk on the beach. Tim proposed and Ursula accepted.

Ursula's Account:

The whole day was a surprise in itself. Tim picked me up at around 9 am on July 22, my birthday. The first thing we did was have breakfast at Frank's in Burbank which is where he gave me my birthday present. It was a year's membership to the L.A Zoo in both of our names (Awww!) I loved it and now we go to the zoo all the time. After we left the zoo at around 12, we headed towards Santa Barbara (which I didn't know at the time). We finally arrived at the Santa Barbara Inn at exactly 3:00 pm. It was so beautiful and peaceful (at night we could even hear the seals calling out). Tim had made dinner reservations for 7:00 pm. He took me to the same restaurant we had previously been to when looking at places to get married, the Beachside Restaurant on Goleta Beach. After dinner he suggested we take a walk on the beach. I was terribly cold so he gave me his jacket. We headed towards the bench we had sat on last time we went there :) While we were sitting down looking onto the ocean he asked me to get up so he could give me a hug. As we stood hugging I could feel him shiver, his heart was pounding rapidly and he had his hands tucked into his pockets; I was worried he was cold. Finally he hugged me again and started to say the sweetest things in my ear but I wasn't too shocked because he is always sweet. Once he started to get into detail about how much he loves me and how wonderful he thinks I am, I thought to myself, "Oh my god is this what I think it is!?" My mind just went blank and all I could see was him pulling something out of his pocket as he got on his knee. That is when he said the only words I remember, "You complete me, will you marry me?" I had the biggest smile on my face I've probably ever had and then, of course, I said "Yes!" So we hugged and kissed and I stared at the ring and we were happy! Yay! When we got back to the hotel he ordered champagne and we got a free congratulations dessert which I loved! It was the best birthday and day of my entire life. Well at least until our wedding day...
